Vereeniging hawkers accommodated in newly built stalls

Hawkers in Vereeniging are accommodated in the 12 newly built food vending stalls next to Mark park shopping complex. The Municipality erected these kiosks to provide infrastructure for the vendors. The kiosks consist of zinc with running water, a gas stove and a solar heating system for hot water.

The kiosks were erected for existing food vendors in Markpark as they were operating from old caravans and other structures which created untidiness in the city and projected an unclean and poor urban space management image. An eye sore really.  The erection of the stalls resulted in the improvement to the ecstatic appearance of the trading area in Markpark. This also assisted the food vendors to comply in terms of the Municipal health regulations with regards to food handling.
