Emfuleni MPAC councillors shine at Regenesys graduation ceremony

Emfuleni Local Municipality MPAC councillors made us proud at the Regenesys Business School graduation ceremony held on the 10th March 2016 at Sandton Johannesburg.

A total group of eight councillors led by the former councillor speaker Msebenzi Gqeloshe graduated with NQF level 6 certificate in municipal finance they studied over a period of twelve months.

Madam speaker Maipato Tsokolibane for the Emfuleni Local Municipality joined fellow graduates march procession in the harmonic singing of the Gaudeamus Igitur song.

Star Hlongwane one of graduate said: “if you close your eyes to facts you will learn through accidents”

This certificate in Public Municipal Finance will help us to become better to manage and to make informed decision for key financial considerations and to advice MPAC councillors proactively rather than reactively”

Cllr Von Bodenstein Edward Khululekile scooped the award for the best student for receiving the highest performance marks in terms of the overall formal assessments of the written test and the assignments.

With much excitement and enthusiasm, council Speaker Cllr. Tsokolibane, gave very inspirational speech. Later on the day Madam speaker joined Regenesys Business School management officials namely, Doctors, Penny Law and Marko Saravanja in the awarding of the certificates, as the parents and the guests applauded the graduates for their latest academic achievements.

Tsokolibane remark” This programme must further assist us in improving the efficiency, capacity and impact of local government to the communities we lead.

Our municipality needs sound, dedicated and skilled team of councillors who understand their roles and functions as they relate to the expectations of our communities and the prescripts of the Constitution of the Republic said Cllr MaipatoTsokolibane.

Tsokolibane noted “This programme and many others are provided to you with the objective of ensuring that you are better equipped to deal with a myriad of challenges that you face with being at the coal face of service delivery”.

“Intellectually you are much more empowered, knowledge is power and your vocabulary will change without realisation in time”, said Dr Marko Saravanja the founder and chairperson of Regenesys Business School.

Saravanja explained ‘‘the greatest risk you can take is not taking a risk at all. Live fully, persevere and don’t give up.

Other graduates present were Mega Tebakang and Jabu Pulane both the speakers’ office support staff members, for the Municipal Public Accounts Committee. The committee is responsible for scrutinising the council financial reports and statements as part of the council political oversight work over the administration.
