10 November 2011 - The Executive Mayor of the Emfuleni Local Municipality Cllr Greta Hlongwane, accompanied by ELM employees, will join members of the Mensana Corposana Church in cleaning and painting the house belonging to Granny Lettia Mthimkulu.

The Granny will also be given some household equipment. The house was handed over to the 107 year old granny by the Executive Mayor as part of the Mandela Day activities in Emfuleni. In her touching plea to Executive Mayor Hlongwane during one of the Mayor’s visits to her place, Granny Mthimkulu said she desired to live in a proper house before she dies. Her dream was realized when the Municipality made a commitment in response to President Jacob Zuma’s call that on the 18th of July we should commemorate Mandela Day by improving the lives of our people.
