10 June 2016 - As part of its commitment to the theme of Getting the Basics Right: Our Programme for Restoration, the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) will on Monday 13 June be launching its Customer service centre.

Located in Vanderbijlpark, the Call Centre is expected to provide a link between the Municipality and its customers, log and resolve queries and ensure that there are proper facilities where payments can be made.

“Through this Call Centre, we will be able to attend to both financial and non-financial matters – including acknowledgements of debt and making payment arrangements,” Executive Mayor, Councillor Mahole Simon Mofokeng said.

The media will be able to tour the new facility and also engage the Executive Mayor, who take a few calls from Emfuleni customers.

Media is also invited for the State of the Municipality Address, which will focus on the 2011-2016 political term of office and highlight achievements, challenges and future plans under the guiding theme: “Getting the Basics Right: Our Programme for Restoration”.

The Address will further unpack the theme, which is aimed at strengthening the municipality in order to ensure that it is able to execute its mandate effectively and efficiently to communities.

This year’s SoMA takes place on the background of the 20th Anniversary of the Signing of the democratic Constitution of the Republic of South Africa into law by the former President Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela in Sharpeville on 10 December 1996.

The Address also come six months after the inauguration of the current administration under the stewardship of Executive Mayor, Cllr. Mahole Simon Mofokeng.
