The first Job Readiness Centre was officially launched at Emfuleni Local Municipality’s Sharpeville Community Library on Tuesday, 12 September 2017. Aimed at empowering youth by availing access to employment opportunities, the National Library of South Africa (NLSA) through its Mzanzi On-Line Project partnered with Lulaway Holdings to establish a network of job centres in libraries across the nine provinces.

During her address at the official launch yesterday, the CEO & National Librarian, Prof , MD Rocky Ralebipi- Simela, explained that 65 unemployed young ICT interns have been recruited and trained in order to render services and facilitate the implementation of the job readiness centres. “ The NLSA/ Lulaway Job readiness Project will enable participating libraries to offer better services in preparing unemployed library users from local community to register and seek employment opportunities on-line using the internet facilities and ICT equipment ant their local library”, she said.
