11 August 2017 - The municipality wishes to advise that Mr. Mpfareleni Maseanoka, the then Head of Revenue Collection Department, has been appointed the new acting chief financial officer.
His appointment follows the recent release of Mr. Brendon Schorltz, who has seconded by Sedibeng District Municipality to assist the municipality to turn its financial status for the positives. His secondment has since been revised, following his employment contract with SDM coming to an end.
Mr. Maseanoka is faced with the difficult task of continuing to change the financial status through the recently adopted financial turn-around strategy. The four pillar strategy focuses on (1.) Improving Debt Collection, (2) Reducing Water and Electricity losses, (3) Saving on expenditure through cost containment measures, and (4) Improving a credible Indigent Register. This strategy was recently approved by the MEC-Finance, Barbra Creecy as the credible document aimed at changing the face and status of the municipality. All this is aimed at cutting ELM's budget to ensure its viability in meeting its obligations to pay salaries, bulk services, service delivery imperatives which all speaks to the turn- around plan.
