20th April 2018 - The Executive Mayor of Emfuleni Local (ELM), Cllr. Jacob Lehana Khawe together with key water and sanitation services provision stakeholders will be hosting the 5th instalment of the ELM water summit on Wednesday the 25th and Thursday the 26th April 2018.
Themed “OPTIMISING WATER SERVICES BY RETHINKING THE WATER CYCLE”, the 2018 summit is aimed at deliberating on the latest innovations and the sharing of best practices with fellow stakeholders in the water sector.
The two days long programme is also intended to address issues of water security through the improvement of water resources usage pre and post consumption for economic prosperity, community wellbeing and the sustainability of the environment.
The summit is further directed at addressing the challenge of the shrinking municipal revenue base and an ever increasing water bill due to hard economic realities faced by consumers. The aging infrastructure and its ramifications to the delivery of adequate water and sanitation services will also be put under the spotlight.
The Mister of Water and Sanitation Mr. Gugile Nkwinti, the Minister of COGTA Dr. Zweli Mkhize and high ranking officials from the water sector are expected to attend the event to offer messages of support to the initiative.
