EMFULENI WORKING AROUND THE CLOCK TO RESOLVE LABOUR MATTERS

On Tuesday (12 October 2021), seventeen (17) municipal vehicles were attached by attorneys representing employees on a labor matter through the Vanderbijlpark Sheriff of the Court. This is after the bargaining council ruled in favour employees on a labour dispute matter and ordered the municipality to settle the matter as prescribed.

The municipality has engaged attorneys representing the employees through the legal team. A proposal to amicably settle the matter has been put forward by the attorneys and the municipality is currently looking at it with the intention to recover all seventeen (17) attached vehicles.

We would like to put it on record that the attachment was impulsive as the labour court directive for the municipality and attorneys to negotiate settlement expires on Saturday (30 October 2021). Preparations to finalize the matter were still ongoing on the part of the municipality.

ELM remains committed to resolving all matters hindering service delivery in the interests of communities. The municipality continues to be uncompromising on the conviction to deliver fitting services to all residents.
