ALERT: SUSPICIOUS “POSTPONEMENT” NOTICES RELATED TO ELECTRICITY METER INSTALLATIONS.

Electricity prepaid split meter roll out continues as planned 

 

The Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) would like to alert the public of suspicious “POSTPONEMENT” notices circulating on social media platforms regarding the roll-out of electricity prepaid split meters. The municipality is stillpursuing the replacement and installation of prepaid meters. Consumers are cautioned that any notices they may receive with the “POSTPONEMENT” of the installations are not from the municipality. 

The meter installation program applies to consumers supplied by the Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) Electricity Department and continues as planned.

To limit billing errors and improve billing accuracy, the municipality will be replacing faulty prepaid meters, bypassed smart meters and installing meters in all unmetered households.

Starting today (Friday, 22 October 2021), the meter roll out will start in CE 7 and CE 8 (Miami Sands). Consumers are requested to corporate with municipal officials and grant them access to install the meters.
