WATER OUTAGES HIT PARTS OF EMFULENI DUE TO A PLANNED 54 HOURS SHUTDOWN
Parts of Emfuleni Local Municipality (ELM) are experiencing water shortages after a 54-hour planned shutdown by Rand Water to interconnect the B11 and B19 raw water pipelines. The shutdown was a necessary inconvenience to ensure present and future reliability of supply by adding more water into the system.
On account of the lengthy 54 hours shutdown, the water supply network ran dry and as a result, most of the areas in Emfuleni started experiencing water shortages. The municipality is working with Rand Water to normalize supply as quickly as possible. Earlier this morning, Rand Water started pumping water at full capacity to stabilize the network however, this may take some time to accomplish.
The following areas are currently affected by water outages:
Vanderbijlpark Area
- CW1 to CW6
- CE1 to CE6
- Bonanne
- NW7
- Vanderbijlpark CBD
- Bophelong
- Bophelong Extensions
- Tshepiso/Boipatong
- NE3
- Mittal
- Agricultural Holdings
Sebokeng Area
- Zone 3, 6, 7, 10, 14, 17
Evaton Area
- Evaton
- Palmsprings
- Beverly Hills
- Evaton West
- Lakeside
- Stretford
- Evaton North
Residents who still have water in their reserves and those who still get supply are requested to use water sparingly until the water supply system is stabilizes. The municipality would like to thank residents for their patience during and after the shutdown.
