27 October 2015 - The Emfuleni Local Municipality together with its stakeholders will host the Heritage Celebration in association with Global Hand-Wash in Boipatong this week. The primary intention of the celebration is to reach out to the residents of Sedibeng and address their concerns around water usage and the promotion of a healthy living lifestyle within communities.

The campaign was founded by the Water Services Unit of Emfuleni Local Municipality, Metsi-a-Lekoa in partnership with Sedibeng District Municipality, National Departments, Rand Water Board and local Civil Society Groups early this year as a means to augment water conservation, waste removal, tree planting and cleanliness practices in our communities.

The Heritage Celebration and Global Hand-Wash campaign will see stakeholders engaging in information sharing and education sessions with the community of Boipatong whereby they will be skilled on how to clean and green their environment.

Themed “Towards the identification, promotion & preservation of South Africa‘s living Heritage & GLOBAL HAND WASH “Washing of hands saves lives”, the campaign will also serve as a platform to profile the importance of washing hands and its positive and negative impact on human health.MMC responsible for Infrastructure, Electricity, Water and Sanitation Councillor Nomvula Thulo will address the community on the overall purpose of the campaign.
