05 January 2016 - Emfuleni Local Municipality Executive Mayor, Councillor Mahole Simon Mofokeng has congratulated all Grade 12 learners who passed their 2016 final examinations.
“We congratulate all students for their outstanding results and we hope they will encourage the class of 2017 to work harder and even achieve even greater results,” he said.
Following the release of the official results by the Department of Basic Education on Thursday, Executive Mayor Mofokeng singled out top achievers who attained distinctions in all subjects.
Xolani Kiwa (17) and Mbali Shamu (18) from Esokwazi Secondary School in Zone 8 Sebokeng and Rhoda Hartzer, Janke Grundling and Gizelle Venske from the Transvalia Hoerskool in Vanderbijlpark are some of the students who achieved seven distinctions in seven subjects in the exams.
“We wish these successful students all the best in their sustained pursuit of education as they prepare for life as first year students at various institutions of higher learning,” he said.
Meanwhile, the two top achievers at Esokwazi Secondary School, Xolani and Mbali shared their secrets to success and advice for the class of 2017.
Long study hours, sleepless nights and sheer dedication to school work.
This is what it took for Xolani and Mbali to each score seven distinctions in their finals.
Executive Mayor Mofokeng also had a special message for all those who have applied for the Emfuleni Local Municipality’s Mayoral Bursary Fund.
“We wish all those who have submitted their bursary application forms the best of luck. The selection process is underway and we will soon make announcements in this regard,” he said.
