Seven (7) of the nine waste compactor trucks will first be customized and fitted with specialized bin-lifters and riding-rails. The remaining two (2) will add to the five (5) existing compactors utilized in the bi-weekly household waste collection service.Taking delivery of the fleet, Executive Mayor Councillor Gift Moerane pleaded with municipal workers to look after the vehicles.

“This fleet will fast-track the collection of household waste, as I indicated to residents during the recent IDP and Budget Public Participation Meetings,” he said.
The municipality is also expecting ten (10) cubic skip bins from the provincial government which will be placed in town centers and main roads, and collected by hook-trucks on a regular basis.
