INCENTIVE SCHEME CUT-OFF DATE EXTENDED TO END OF DECEMBER
MMC for Finance and Revenue happy with the incentive scheme and encourages customers to continue coming in their numbers
To relieve consumers of their arrears burden and to maximize revenue collection, the MMC for Finance and Revenue, Cllr. Hassan Mako extended the validity period of the incentive scheme to 30 December 2022. This comes after the incentives program proved to be worthwhile as consumers from all walks of life came in large numbers for account settlements and arrangements.
With the new cut-off date in place, residential and business account holders remain eligible for consideration. Incentives on cash settlements and arrangements will continue to be offered at 50% for residential consumers and 30% for business consumers.
Consumers with arrears of more than 90 days (exclusive of traffic fines) qualify for the incentive scheme. Residents and businesses whose accounts qualify for the scheme are encouraged to visit any of the following offices and complete the forms in person:
- Vereeniging Rates and Taxes Office at corner Beaconsfield Avenue and Leslie Street.
- Vanderbijlpark Customer Care Office at 74 President Kruger Street.
- Vanderbijlpark Debt Collection Office at the ELM main building, corner Klasie Havenga Street and Frikkie Meyer Boulevard.
All of the above-mentioned offices can be visited weekdays from 08h00 until 15h30. Consumers are advised to bring a copy of the Identity Document (ID) to complete the application.
Additionally, the municipality encourages residents who cannot afford to pay for services to register on the indigent database to assist with the cash flow. Those who have registered are reminded that such registration requires annual renewal for the municipality to ascertain whether financial situations have improved.
On behalf of the Emfuleni Local Municipality, Cllr. Hassan Mako is calling upon all eligible account holders and indigents to take advantage of the discounts to end arrears.
