THE WORLD COMES TO THE RESCUE OF EMFULENI CITIZENS

With the global advent of COVID-19, many Emfuleni citizens have been unable to protect themselves from the risk of the infection. There was an acute shortage of needed supplies around all Emfuleni settlements.

Recently, MEC Morakane Mosupyoe and Emfuleni Local Municipality Executive Mayor Moerane launched a sanitization program distributing sanitizers to different local places. Nevertheless, many settlements didn't receive the necessary equipment because of a severe lack in the municipality.

Many international organizations decided to come to the rescue and provide the citizens with the opportunity to prevent massive contagions.

Emfuleni received significant support from the European Union countries, Australia, and the United States of America.

Each institution aided the municipality in its own way. For example, several companies' representatives from the US, such as QuickCashLoans, visited Emfuleni in order to support local residents and supply them with the required items.

The company's representatives traveled through two main town centers, Vereeniging and Vanderbijlpark, and other small settlements, such as Sharpeville, Sebokeng, and Evaton.

The volunteers distributed protective masks and gloves, sanitizers of half a liter (500 ml), and antibacterial wipes. After their visit, each household was supplied with the essential items in order to combat and disrupt the spread of COVID-19.
